I had six hours to go I started feeling the effects and I guess it showed

That there was nowhere I could go to get a reprieve

I tried to focus on my work but it didn't help
Dirty dishes started stacking up to the shelf
Everyone was laughing cuz the knew the deal
I went out on the floor that's when shit got real

Face to face with the public I was scared as hell

It was Sunday afternoon I didn't see my boss
You could have blindfolded me with some dental floss

I went to make a move but I was stuck in time
I couldn't ask for help without dropping the dime
I made a baby step toward to the deli case
The special of the day was a baby's face
Served up fresh with a nice Chianti
The stereo was pumping out Michael Franti
I lost my mind and there was no doubt
Maybe you know just what I'm talking about

Psychological trauma that was self induced
I had to find myself I had to ask for a truce
Floating through the air and I'm looking around
I finally saw my body I was coming down
That's when it hit me I was still alive
Another twenty minutes and it meant I survived
I could clock out for the day and finally drop my guard
Work would never be that hard again
